Highly Corrosion Resistant Aluminum Die Casting Alloy

In highly corrosive environments die cast parts form unacceptable levels of corrosion. To eliminate the failure of the products manufactured from conventional aluminum a new die casting aluminum was developed and patented. Exhibiting unique properties, the new alloy is branded as K-Alloy.

Features
• Superior corrosion resistance as compared to all other die casting alloys
• Significantly improved thermal conductivity of 15% (over A380)*
• Comparable to A380, A360 and A413 Alloy
• K-Alloy can be cast using existing dies
• Good Castability
• No special handling
• Readily available commercial supply

*In addition, K-Alloy may be further processed to increase the thermal conductivity by as much as 40% for high performance applications.

K-Alloy was developed and patented by Delphi Corporation for under hood applications where road salt corrosion, heat, vibration and shock had been contributing to failure of standard Al alloys resulting in warranty repair. K-Alloy has virtually eliminated corrosion with automakers now certifying the life of K Alloy components in excess of 20 years under the hood.

Just announced: K-Alloy is now available through Beck Aluminum, the largest distributor of primary Aluminum alloys in the US. Delphi Corp. has announced a strategic licensing agreement with Beck Aluminum that will improve the competitiveness of K-Alloy through increased availability at attractive prices.
