Aluminum Casting Alloys With Enhanced Corrosion Resistance:

Delphi K-Alloy™ (die casting) and newly released Delphi K-Alloy SP™ (sand casting/permanent mold) are aluminum alloys that provide unexpected levels of corrosion resistance when compared to traditional aluminum alloys.

As of January 1, 2010 K-Alloy costs less. Delphi and Beck Aluminum have reduced the price of K-Alloy making it far more competitive when compared to 360 and 413 alloys. With better corrosion resistance and comparable pricing K-Alloy becomes a better choice.

In highly corrosive environments die cast parts form unacceptable levels of corrosion. To eliminate the failure of the products manufactured from conventional aluminum a new die casting aluminum was developed and patented. Exhibiting unique properties, the new alloy is branded as K-Alloy. Download a brochure here.

Features
• Superior corrosion resistance as compared to all other die casting alloys
• Significantly improved thermal conductivity of 20% (over 380)*
• Physical properties comparable to 360 and 413 alloys
• K-Alloy can be cast using existing dies
• Castability similar to 360 and 413
• No special handling
• Readily available commercial suppliers in the US, China and Korea

*In addition, K-Alloy may be post-processed to increase the thermal conductivity by as much as 40% for high performance applications. Call for more information.

K-Alloy was developed and patented by Delphi Corporation for under-hood applications where moisture, road salt corrosion, heat, vibration and shock had been contributing to failure of standard Al alloys resulting in warranty repair. K-Alloy, as cast, has virtually eliminated corrosion with automakers now certifying the life of K Alloy components in excess of 20 years under the hood. K-Alloy is available world-wide.

Delphi K-Alloy SP™ for Sand Cast and Permanent Mold applications is now available. Call or e-mail for more information.

K-Alloy is now available through Beck Aluminum, the largest distributor of primary Aluminum alloys in the US. Delphi Corp. has announced a strategic licensing agreement with Beck Aluminum that will improve the competitiveness of K-Alloy through increased availability at attractive prices.

MDW Technologies, LLC has extensive experience with corrosion issues in die cast, permanent mold cast and sand cast aluminum alloy parts. Over the past five years we have been commercializing K-Alloy world-wide in industries including outdoor lighting, electrical components, traffic control, recreational, automotive and other products that need to perform in harsh environments. If corrosion in aluminum castings is an issue in your company, K-Alloy could be a long-term solution for improved parts with less post-processing and lower overall cost.
